Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Lake Havasu City

Total Budget: $3,750

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: We will provide music recorders to all the 3rd graders at the 6 Elementary Schools in Lake Havasu District 1

Here are the top 10 reasons why teaching the recorder is an excellent choice for young students:

It is easy to learn: The recorder is a simple instrument that is easy for young children to hold and play. With a little bit of practice, students can quickly learn to produce a pleasant sound.

It is inexpensive: Recorders are relatively inexpensive compared to other instruments, making them a great choice for schools that have limited budgets. There are also hundreds of tutorials and play-alongs available online to use straight away in the classroom for free!

It encourages creativity: Playing the recorder allows children to express themselves creatively, and to explore different musical styles and genres.

It improves fine motor skills: Playing the recorder requires precise finger and hand movements, which can help children to improve their fine motor skills.

It promotes teamwork: Playing in a recorder ensemble requires children to work together, listen to each other and play in time which helps to improve teamwork.

It helps with math and science: Playing a musical instrument like the recorder can help children to develop math and science skills, such as understanding fractions, patterns and sequences.

It promotes self-esteem and confidence: Playing the recorder can help children to build self-esteem and confidence, as they learn to play a new instrument and improve their skills.

It is a fun and engaging activity: Playing the recorder is a fun and engaging activity that can keep children interested and motivated.

It can be used in other subjects: Recorder playing can be used in other subjects such as history, geography, and culture.

It can be enjoyed for a lifetime: Playing the recorder is a skill that can be enjoyed for a lifetime and can be passed down to generations to come.

The project funds will be used to purchase the recorders which will be customized with the Lake Havasu Sunrise Rotary logo. Once received, several club members will deliver them to the 6 elementary schools and arrange photos to be taken and sent to the local newspaper and posted on our clubs Facebook page.
