This project will install drainable latrines and water tanks for 6 primary schools in the city of Masaka, Uganda. This project is expected to impact about 2,460 students and teachers within the community. These six rural schools were just recently added to the city of Masaka and they are severely dilapidated, particularly the facilities for the girls. The 6 schools identified for this project are as follows:

-St. Stanislaus Ssenya Primary School

--Total Enrollment: 440

--Teachers/staff: 12

The current pit latrines for the girls bathroom got filled and is currently closed. The current boys latrines are in a very dilapidated state.

-St. Mary's Kasango Primary School

--Total Enrollment: 389

--Teacher/staff: 13

This school lacks enough toilet facilities to serve all students and teachers. The girl's toilet was in such poor condition that it had to be closed. The girls use the boys latrines at this moment.

-St. Michael Butale C/U Primary School

--Total Enrollment: 204

--Teacher/staff: 6

This school lacks adequate toilet facilities and water harvesting facilities. The school currently only has one small pit latrines with 4 stances.

-St. George Mixed Primary School - Butale

--Total Enrollment: 460

--Teacher/staff: 10

The current girl's toilet is full and was forced to close. This school also lacks washroom facilities for the girls.

-St. Charles Lwanga Butaaya Primary School

--Total Enrollment: 378

--Teacher/staff: 9

This school lacks any girls or teacher toilets. The only toilet facility is shared and is extremely dilapidated and poses a danger to the students.

-St. Modesta Primary School Bisanje

--Total Enrollment: 526

--Teacher/staff: 13

The current girls toilet is full and cannot be emptied. This school also lacks a washroom for the girls.

This project will install 10 cubic meter rainwater harvesting tanks and washrooms at four schools. 5-Stance drainable pit latrines will be constructed at all six schools. Training will be provided for hygiene, MHM, and safe water chain.
