Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Mineral Wells, Texas

Total Budget: $2,706

Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Grace House Ministries is a faith-based pregnancy resource center located in Mineral Wells, Texas promoting hope, life, and knowledge to expecting parents and young families in the community.

Grace House Ministries provides educational courses and resources for families during pregnancy and through the toddler years. The proceeds of this grant will help cover the cost of purchasing or printing these publications.

"Preparing for Baby" is a series of eight one-hour group sessions for expecting mothers and fathers that provides support and education about pregnancy and parenting. Each expecting mother/couple that completes the series is celebrated with a baby shower at the conclusion, providing them items to meet basic needs of their newborn. The anticipated cost of printing the "Preparing for Baby" materials for 2023 is $800.

"Before you Decide" is a pregnancy decision guidebook provided to and discussed with women in crisis pregnancy situations, explaining their various options. Also provided to them are resource guides on the abortion pill, day-after pill, and abortion reversal pill. The anticipated cost of these materials for 2023 is $1,200.

The remaining $706 will be used for boutique supplies and medical supplies. The boutique provides items for babies up to two years of age, to mothers and couples who participate in pregnancy, parenting, and life skills classes, all provided by Grace House Ministries. The medical supplies are utilized in pregnancy tests and ultrasound offerings to women in need and in crisis pregnancies.

The funds to cover the stated expenses are needed by November 15, 2022, to adequately prepare for the upcoming year.

There are several opportunities for club members to be involved with this ministry. As a group, our club can help prepare bulk mailings, repackage diapers, and swap out the clothing in the boutique at the changing of seasons. Club members can also apply to become volunteers, to serve as either a "mom mentor" or "dad coach."
