Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: Scholarship grant match, replacing the SMART Program benefiting youth and junior bowlers in San Diego County. This project addresses the need for increased support and development of youth and junior bowling programs in San Diego County, particularly in underserved communities. A key gap identified was the lack of trained volunteer coaches and mentors to guide young bowlers in skill-building, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Through Rotary District 5340's matching grant, funds will be used to support and train youth and junior bowling coaches, helping strengthen local bowling leagues and provide consistent mentorship for participants. These funds will cover coach training fees, materials, certification costs, and support for coaching-related events. RC of Sweetwater San Diego members will be actively involved in planning, coordinating with local bowling centers, promoting the program, and monitoring its impact. Members will also assist with volunteer recruitment, recognition, and follow-up reporting.
