Activity Type:
RI Youth Programs (Youth Exchange, RYLA, Rotaract, Interact)
Summary: Eight students from a Queen Creek High School to attend RYLA camp in district 5495.
The Rotary Club of Queen Creek's primary focus is on teen mental health. We believe that the emotional benefits that RYLA graduates obtain during the RYLA camp will add a great deal to their mental well being. Our objective is to sponsor eight students from one of the high schools in Queen Creek. At that school, we will work to recruit a teacher advisor to establish a new Interact club at the school. When the students return from RYLA, their enthusiasm will be a great catalyst to start the new Interact club. We also believe an Interact club will be a great asset to Queen Creek. We are a two year old club in a fast growing community that has not had a Rotary presence in the past.
Club members through our various contacts with the high schools will be involved in recruiting a teacher advisor. We will also be involved interviewing the RYLA applications and working with the applicants before and after the RYLA camp. Our club would also be the sponsor of the resulting Interact club.
