Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

Everything from paper to pencils to erasers and crayons was handed out in October to 10 schools in National City.

Rotary Club National City partners with The National City Police Department and organizes its annual school drive to help students get the essentials to make their school year a success.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Elementary students in 10 schools.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The children at each Elementary school were all smiles as they received backpacks and filled them up with donated school supplies.

Rotarians brought supplies throughout the year and placed them in a box provided at meetings Club members then participated in the giveaway at each school..

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

The annual school supply giveaway is organized by the National City Police Department in partnership with the National City Rotary Club, Sweetwater Kiwanis Club, members of the low rider community, elected officials and local retailers. Each of the 10 schools in the National School District will receive new folders, crayons, notebooks and other essentials, but students at Otis and Rancho De La Nacion were also given backpacks donated by Costco.
